I have an Advanced Diplomas in Counselling and a PG Dip in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I finished a training at the Site for Contemporary Psychoanalysis which leads to UKCP registration in the Analytic section of the UKCP. I have also studied at The Philadelphia Association (Psychoanalytical Training organisation) where i did the introductory year. I spent in total 10 years in either a counselling or an psychoanalytical training.
I'm currently working solely in my private practice after being a director of a mental health charity. I also managed managed two different service user groups. One of which was for those struggling with alcohol and substance misuse and another for a mental health provider in the public sector.
Part of my previous roles was to work with statutory services to improve the care of those in psychiatric care. I also have worked closely with the old PCT's as well the CCG's which replaced the PCT'S.
I also helped develop strategies which encouraged all service users to become involved in their treatment and for service users to have a say in what type of service they would want, which helps to empower them. The strategy enables service users to be part of the tendering process for services and helps commissioners who fund services, to see what types of services are needed locally.
I have managed two counselling services that worked in the community and delivered counselling to clients who had a broad range of issues, which specialised in alcohol and substance misuse issues, depression, dual diagnosis and personality disorders and PTSD & OCD. Also I have worked with a clients that had regular contact with the criminal justice system. This service also offered housing related support for tenants that had alcohol and substance misuse and mental health issues that affected their ability to sustain their housing.
I have also managed a day programme for clients who had substance misuse and eating disorders and dual diagnosis which was time framed intervention. I also managed a service also offered an outreach service to vulnerable adults that had addiction, Mental Health as well as learning difficulties.
My aim is to promote psychotherapy and counselling to those who may not have considered that it may be of use to them. This includes those who are on the margins of society and those who feel that they do not have have a stake in society. I believe that change is possible for anyone given the right environment and conditions.
I have also completed a Mediation training and have an keen interest in bullying in the work place.
